AlanDick, the cellular, radar, enterprise and communications infrastructure specialist, successfully deployed two cellular lampposts for StarHub, Singapore’s integrated info-communications provider.
The creation of
Singapore’s first aesthetically friendly
solution is the result of close liaison
between AlanDick, StarHub and PowerGrid, the
approving authorities for the use of
substation sites.
Conventional monopole structures were
unsuitable for deployment at PowerGrid’s
East Coast Park and Cooling Close
substations, due to aesthetic and general
operational reasons. Drawing on a successful
track history in the international cellular
transmission business, AlanDick was able to
design, develop and deploy the 10 and 15
metre lamppost camouflage solutions for the
two sites. Due to the innovative design, the
project took just four weeks from the
ordering stage to delivery, with each of the
lampposts being installed in two days.
As well as being aesthetically-pleasing, the
installation of the two cellular lampposts
proved a cost-effective solution for both
PowerGrid and StarHub.
In recent years demand has increased for
aesthetic solutions that assist building and
property owners to apply visually
unobtrusive communication infrastructures on
commercial buildings and worksites.

This was the first time that AlanDick was
asked to develop an aesthetically-friendly
solution for the Singaporean market. Thanks
to the use of leading edge composite design
technology, AlanDick expects to see the
wide-scale deployment of its cellular
lamppost systems at many sites across
Singapore that, for whatever reasons, cannot
support a standard monopole structure
installation.
AlanDick's products provide operators,
property or building owners and the general
public with a cellular transmission
installation that is both cost-effective and
easy on the eyes.
